I saw this movie when it came out, and bought the vinyl LP right after. Loved the soundtrack. Can't remember the guys name who played the egocentric rock star, but years later in the 80s I saw him in the Dupars restaurant in Studio City.
I am embarrassed that I still have not seen this movie. Wasn't that Paul Williams behind the mask?
Paul Williams is in the movie as the "egocentric rock star" as Ted put it, but he was not the Phantom. The Phantom was played by William Finley.
